The interactive children’s portal on the German Federal Parliament website has been online with new content and new design since June.
The website has a fresh, child-oriented format with new functions, videos and games. The site has been primarily optimized for use on tablets and smartphones. As part of the re-launch, a section for teachers was created. In it, there are materials for political education at elementary schools.
“In particular we have implemented an intuitive navigation path for young users. It characterizes the site and creates playful access to content.”
“With all the high quality interactive content, kids will have fun and learn while on the site. That is our primary goal. That’s why we are putting more stock into creating multi-medial, child-friendly formats.”
Since October 2015, jungvornweg (the company name is a word play: youth forward first) and portrino GmbH have been working on the children’s portal, Kuppelkucker for the German Federal Parliament website and have even taken on the offer to edit and update the site. This includes creating editorial content in all areas including a child-friendly approach and playful information transfer, new online formats and dialogue with young users.
Kuppelkucker is the online presence of the German Federal Parliament for children ages 5 to 11. The aim of the site is to playfully teach children about politics and democratic principles, illustrate working practices and functions of the German Federal Parliament.
